One of the most common questions I receive is about anxiety, and how to cope when it overtakes you. Having dealt with anxiety and panic attacks myself throughout life, I’ve tried loads of different tricks and techniques to stop it in its tracks. I’m going to share one of my favorites with you.
Think about the importance of breath. We all know that breath sustains us. For most of us, if we went several minutes without breathing, our bodies would begin shutting down. But have you considered the possibility that the breath of life can also heal you?
The next time you feel anxious, stressed or jittery, try Alternate Nostril Breathing. This will require your fingers (not up your nose, but beside it). Take your thumb and place on your left nostril. Breathe in through your right nostril. Then place your ring finger of the same hand and put on your right nostril while letting go of the thumb on the left. Exhale the breath through the left nostril and then inhale through the left nostril. Switch to the thumb on the left nostril and exhale through the right nostril. Inhale through the right and continue in this fashion. The point is to inhale from one side, exhale and inhale from the other and go back and forth!

Do this for up to 5 minutes and your body, mind and spirit will be re-centered, calm and focused. It’s amazing.
