Looking Forward and Within

Looking Forward and Within

I love this time of year for many reasons, but in particular the week between Christmas and the New Year is my favorite. For me, it offers a time of reflection, of relief and renewal. I often get a personal project completed or take time away from all of life’s busyness, and I hope you can too.

In preparing for the New Year, I’m excited to present two powerful healing opportunities. In January I’m leading both an online intensive and an in-person event on Healing Your Inner Child. Some of you may have participated when I hosted it on InsightTimer, and you’re welcome to return. This workshop intensive is to help us better manage our emotions, mindset and behavior when it comes to difficult experiences of feeling overwhelmed, triggered, fearful or any form of self-sabotage.

The events are located on my events page, Jan 21 and 28, afternoon sessions. I can’t wait to share with you there and help us all on our healing and spiritual journeys through 2023 and beyond.

In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying The Modern Sage Podcast, and also the spirit of this season. Most importantly, that you take care of yourself. It’s not a joyful time for all, and it’s a stressful time for many, so implement the tools we talk about regularly such as boundaries and self-care so you can truly enjoy the moments of life.

Books, gifts, and more are still available to be shipped out this week in time for the holidays if you’re interested, and as always, I’m available for support when you need.

Looking forward to see you, and your Inner Child very soon!

New Course – Trust

New Course – Trust

I just created a NEW course on a platform that I trust: InsightTimer. This course is about Trust – Trusting Yourself, Others and the Divine and I can’t wait to share it with you. Seriously I can’t, seeing as I just launched it about 30 minutes ago :-). I love this topic as trust is a major contributor of many of our blockages. We’ve lost trust in relationships, in spirit and in our selves and working on regaining that trust and getting a new perspective will take us leaps and bounds into healing and personal growth. Trust is a hard thing because we’ve been taught that we put our trust outside of ourselves. When we unlearn that perspective and realize the innate nature of how we trust every moment of every day, we can truly have a different experience with others and in our day to day. I hope you get a lot out of this course. It’s just 5 days, audio and includes a brief meditation each day. If you haven’t used InsightTimer, I recommend you checking it out. There are tons of free meditations and livestreams, with an option to pay for premium content (this is where my course will live but it’s affordable!). I have meditations on both the free and premium versions. The link to the course is here: https://insighttimer.com/meditation-courses/regaining-trust. And please follow me on the app so you can join the livestreams every other week as well!

Year End Challenge

I recently posted on social media an end of year challenge and it’s all about creating (or enhancing) a morning routine. Lots of people are talking about morning routines, for good reason!

By committing to just 10-20 minutes or so each morning, you create time for self-care that not only signals to our inner selves that we matter, but other benefits come about such as increased productivity, more focus, sense of wellness, healthy habits, self-discipline and of course creating intentions and allowing time for emotional processing or mental clarity. That’s a lot of good from just a bit of effort!

I started a morning routine several years ago and plan to expand on that with this challenge. Below you’ll find my simple morning routine, as well as some other suggestions. Change it up to suite your needs and wants, just make sure it is something you can do every day. Even that can make us feel accomplished.

My Routine:

1. Before opening my eyes I meditate for a minute or two, or offer a prayer of thanksgiving.

2. A 16 oz glass of room temp lemon water

3. An 8 oz glass of vitamin C water

4. 10 yoga sun salutations

5. 5-10 minute meditation (I use InsightTimer when I’m feeling like I need a guide.( Follow me there for weekly lives!)

I have to walk my puppy as one of my first things, but try to do it mindfully also.

I plan to add regular journaling into my routine as that is a helpful way to process thoughts and emotions from dreams the night before, or an overload of monkey-mind chatter. I like to use unfiltered journal writing such as The Morning Pages as suggested by Julia Cameron’s book The Artist Way. It’s been around forever, and I read it probably 20 years ago but still a great resource!

You can add breath work, time in nature, listening to sacred music, tai chi, Qigong or any other mindful practice to your routine. Make is fun and meaningful just for you!

I hope you can join me on the challenge. If so, follow me on social @leahguylive to get updates and support, or follow my YouTube channel for more videos on how to create an altar, more suggestions and meditations!
