Leading From The Heart

Leading From The Heart

More and more I notice the difference between leading from the mind/ego and leading from the heart. It seems obvious that we’d want to lead with the heart, but the default for many of us is to do things because we “should” or that we “have to” – for our jobs, our families, our bank accounts of various other reasons. But when we really understand energy, we know that it’s just not a feeling we have when we lead from the heart, it’s a frequency. And when we have activated the heart frequency, not only do we open the energy to our hearts and move fear aside, we vibrate so much higher and attract and experience life in a whole new way.

I’m reminded of this when I record my podcast. When I first started the podcast, I knew I wanted to do it, and so I did it. And I did it in a way I knew how, which was an old way…meaning, I interviewed people, offered as much wisdom as possible about healing and spirituality, and it was great. But I have to be honest I was doing it only with partial love. I mean, I love to help and support people, so it checked that box. But personally, it was stale. I’ve done those kinds of shows so much over the years on tv and radio that it wasn’t jazzing me up. I was in a lower frequency state much of the production time.

Now? OH MY GOSH..I love it so much. I spend 3x the amount of time on these shows, I can’t wait to get them live on the podcast streams and YouTube and it feels like an effortless job filled with purpose, passion, and love. I don’t “need” to do the podcast, I WANT to do the podcast. Big difference.

The show’s focus has changed. I’m telling the story of me purchasing, moving into and reclaiming a haunted house and the deep transformation it sent me on in my own life. It’s about facing the darkness and healing the ghosts of your past. I hope you take a listen and join the convo!

If there’s something in your life that you’ve been muscling through, maybe you can get curious about how to shift your relationship to it, or reframe your purpose with it to see if you can come to it with more love and less angst. For those in the local NYC metro area, I’ll be leading a working soon that focuses on manifestation and the actual way we can live in accordance with our heart and souls.

Love to you all,

On Self-Abandonment

On Self-Abandonment

I currently developing a creative project that was inspired by my own realization of times I have abandoned myself. In the years I ran away from feelings, turned my back on opportunities, and got the hell out of dodge when my fear escalated beyond comfort.

How can we or do we abandon ourselves?

Self-abandonment is a form of sabotage that many of us have learned as a means of “survival” in our relationships. Once formed, it often becomes a negative pattern in our daily lives.

Self-abandonment is a learned behavior, which means we can unlearn the behavior.

Listen to today’s podcast now if you want to learn more and get inspired

We abandon what we want or need.
We lie to ourselves and others about who we are and what are our wants and needs.
We hide.
We people please.
We ignore our hunches, intuition, or inner guidance.
We criticize and judge our most vulnerable parts.
We become perfectionists to avoid ever satisfying or achieving success.
We run from our dreams, and change courses to avoid success or positive results that help us feel good and purposeful.
These are some of the ways we abandon ourselves.

What can we do?

We can learn to sit with our feelings. We can show up for ourselves. We can learn to speak our truth. We can follow the callings of our hearts and trust the process.

Remember who you are.
Remember that you are carrying precious cargo.
You are here with a soul that is brilliant and wants to shine.

Hope it’s a day that is filled with awareness, presence and showing up for yourself! This is the work of spiritual growth, emotional healing and love. 🙂

Looking Forward and Within

Looking Forward and Within

I love this time of year for many reasons, but in particular the week between Christmas and the New Year is my favorite. For me, it offers a time of reflection, of relief and renewal. I often get a personal project completed or take time away from all of life’s busyness, and I hope you can too.

In preparing for the New Year, I’m excited to present two powerful healing opportunities. In January I’m leading both an online intensive and an in-person event on Healing Your Inner Child. Some of you may have participated when I hosted it on InsightTimer, and you’re welcome to return. This workshop intensive is to help us better manage our emotions, mindset and behavior when it comes to difficult experiences of feeling overwhelmed, triggered, fearful or any form of self-sabotage.

The events are located on my events page, Jan 21 and 28, afternoon sessions. I can’t wait to share with you there and help us all on our healing and spiritual journeys through 2023 and beyond.

In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying The Modern Sage Podcast, and also the spirit of this season. Most importantly, that you take care of yourself. It’s not a joyful time for all, and it’s a stressful time for many, so implement the tools we talk about regularly such as boundaries and self-care so you can truly enjoy the moments of life.

Books, gifts, and more are still available to be shipped out this week in time for the holidays if you’re interested, and as always, I’m available for support when you need.

Looking forward to see you, and your Inner Child very soon!

Boost Your Immunity & Spirit

Boost Your Immunity & Spirit

It’s that time of year – colds, flu and circulating viruses. We are all too familiar with the symptoms and side effects, as well as the risks, of these illnesses. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with what to do, as well as stay out of fear thinking. Viruses and bacteria are part of our existence, and while I know none of us want to be sick from them, the reality is we need to change our mindset so that we can support our bodies as much as possible to create a healthy system. We get sick, and we want bodies that can move through the sickness without it taking us down.

I thought I’d share some of my “go-to’s” when it comes to health of body, mind and spirit. In fact, I caught a bug this weekend, seemed like the flu but was relatively short-lived, and I was thankful that my supplement cabinet was well-stocked! That keeps my mind from panicking, and at least for me, my spirit appreciates that fact that I use natural whenever possible, and rely on practitioners that know more than I do about remedies that actually work. When I use these protocols regularly, even when or if I get sick, my recovery time is less, and I feel good about what I’m doing for my body.

First off, during Covid I did up my vit d. I haven’t had a cold or flu in 5 years now before this one currently (and come to think of it, I began tapering the vit d recently, which I will now correct!). I take Vit d3 5000iu most every day. I am not suggesting you do the same, and I’m not a doctor, but I did increase it from 2k to 5k and I believe it has helped me through Covid and in general stay well. I try to get my face in the sun at least 15-20 min on days when it’s nice and clear, earlier or later in the day, but I fail to do the sun-bathing on cloudy days, although I do believe there’s a benefit!

Secondly, I keep a supply of various strengths Colloidal Silver on hand and take it most every day. Colloidal Silver is a natural anti-viral, anti-bacterial and safe! My favorite brand is Natural Path Silver Wings because I trust their company and this is the kind of product I want to trust! After doing a good deal of research, I learned that there’s a big difference in quality of silver, and what you’re looking for primarily is the amber color, not clear. Silver Wings’ products, even their most mild version of 50 ppm is amber. That’s the one I dose either every day or every other day as preventative (or 125 ppm). And if I’m sick, or have a cold sore, or any kind of symptom, I go straight to their 500ppm and I will say, time and again, it has helped me recover quickly. Cold sores are gone in a day or two kind of thing. And this flue was 1 bad day but the next day I felt pretty darn good! They also make silver with olive leaf, or tea tree and aloe, and topicals for infections on the skin. I love this stuff.

In the pantry I also keep herbal teas, honey, oil of oregano (essential oil and liquid supplement) on hand, and fresh ginger and garlic as well as some organic grass-fed bone broths. I have a daily regimen of supplements, about 5-6 including magnesium, quercetin, coq10, and vitamin c that I believe help keep me strong.

I also want to say, especially for the health nuts amongst us, there is no shame in getting “sick” – it is a natural response that can be quite good for the body to cleanse and take a break. What we need to assure is that our body is not reacting to every invader in an alarming way that is keeping us “sick” too often. That can be a sign that the immune system is struggling, or working too hard to keep the invaders out that might otherwise just come and go.

And to help the whole system, we need rest. I realize more and more how rest is a critical part of my health, and how I’ve resisted that over the years. Rest is good for the body, the mind and the spirit, so enjoy that before you are forced to rest in excess sickness!

Be well and take care, friends!

Renewal – A Personal Share

Renewal – A Personal Share

Leah Graduating from Heroic Public Speaking.

I don’t know about you, but every year when spring rolls around I am more than ready! This year in particular.

I’m one of those people who can acclimate to most anything. Any environment, any situation, any conditions, I figure out a way to endure. It’s partly my personality, but it also comes from living in survival mode for many years, dealing with unprocessed trauma and fears. So I have to be especially aware of how I’m REALLY doing, because I know how to make any situation fine.

Just early this year did my body start to come back into alignment with my higher self. Through Covid I was working a lot – supporting others, creating groups, livestreams, social media and seeing clients as we all were thrown from our reality into a state of fear and sometimes, sickness. And now that that experience has thawed a bit, I feel myself coming home. More embodied, more alive.

Last year I committed to a graduate program for public speaking. I’ve been attending Heroic Public Speaking for the past 8 months and have recently graduated! While it was a lot of work (internal and external), the experience was more than I could imagine. It was true nourishment for my soul. To remind me who I am, my passion in speaking and teaching. The people in my cohort were fantastic – so supportive, encouraging and inspiring.

The entire experience was a major renewal and reminded me that we are never too old, too busy, or too inexperienced to say yes to what our hearts are calling us toward. And when we do that, it is like springtime for the Soul.

I want to remind you and be your advocate for doing what you need to renew your heart and mind. Whether that is recommitting to a long-lost dream, saying no to what is weighing you down, or saying yes to more daily self-care. You deserve it. Sometimes life is really tough, but I don’t believe we were brought to this world to only suffer. Suffer we do, but blossom we must.

New Course – Trust

New Course – Trust

I just created a NEW course on a platform that I trust: InsightTimer. This course is about Trust – Trusting Yourself, Others and the Divine and I can’t wait to share it with you. Seriously I can’t, seeing as I just launched it about 30 minutes ago :-). I love this topic as trust is a major contributor of many of our blockages. We’ve lost trust in relationships, in spirit and in our selves and working on regaining that trust and getting a new perspective will take us leaps and bounds into healing and personal growth. Trust is a hard thing because we’ve been taught that we put our trust outside of ourselves. When we unlearn that perspective and realize the innate nature of how we trust every moment of every day, we can truly have a different experience with others and in our day to day. I hope you get a lot out of this course. It’s just 5 days, audio and includes a brief meditation each day. If you haven’t used InsightTimer, I recommend you checking it out. There are tons of free meditations and livestreams, with an option to pay for premium content (this is where my course will live but it’s affordable!). I have meditations on both the free and premium versions. The link to the course is here: https://insighttimer.com/meditation-courses/regaining-trust. And please follow me on the app so you can join the livestreams every other week as well!
